The Mitchellville School (TMS) , a new independent, private school, is located at Christ Community Church, 1925 Mitchellville Road, in Bowie, MD. TMS is accepting enrollment applications for the 2005-2006 school year.

Guiding Principles :

These Principles are the foundation of TMS .   They include providing a safe learning environment and nurturing the social, emotional, and moral development of all children.   Additionally, our students are required to “live” The Mitchellville School Creed , which emphasizes character development (i.e., responsibility, honesty, and respect).

Grades, Teacher/Student Ratios & Staffing :

Grades K-6. One (1) grade added per year.

Traditional and multi-age classes with up to 16 students in each classroom.

Proposed maximum student population = 52

Proposed Full-time Faculty: One (1) Principal, five (5) Teachers, and one (1) School Secretary.

Proposed Part-time Faculty: Physical Education, Music and Art

School Calendar & Hours:

Year-Round Program (Beginning August 2005–June 2006, 184 Days). Three (3) five (5) day intersessions scheduled and an optional July 2006 summer camp may be offered. School Day - 8:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. Extended Day School (EDS), 7:00 a.m.- 8:15 a.m. & 3:15 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. Intersession & Intersession EDS hours will be the same as above. Admissions Process:

The process involves parent interview, records review & student testing & observation. We seek students who demonstrate the interest and motivation to excel in a program offering challenging academic studies, as well as appropriate social skills. We also seek parents who will maintain involvement in the development and life of our school. Parents are required to volunteer at least 20 hours/year and to join the Parent-Teacher Association.
